Hey Teens!
After inspiring myself to do this post after writing my first ever blog post (check it out here: https://teenbeauty101.wordpress.com/2014/05/30/welcome-to-teen-beauty-101/) I decided to write the post 12 ways to wear red lipstick. The red lipstick I used for this post is the Christian Dior ‘Rose Abracadabra’ lipstick in 003. By the way, sorry for the ugly-looking wet fringe. I’d just had a shower and washed my hair.
1. Barefaced
Brave the barefaced!!!! However scary it may seem the simplicity and naturalness goes beautifully with the brightness of the red lipstick.
2. With Dark/Heavy Eyeshadow
Even though some people say this is a big no no. I disagree. Heavy/dark eyeshadow is only a big no no when with heavy make up aswell. To create this eye make up I use the ‘Next Smokey Eyes Palette’. I used the colour smoke all over my lid and then the colour charcoal in the outer crease of my eyelid. I then used the benefit ‘They’re Real’ mascara on both my top and bottom lashes.
3. Light Eyeshadow
Light, cream-coloured eye shadow looks fan-tas-tic with red lippy!! It looks so fabulously natural which always looks good with red lipstick. This look is so super easy. I used one colour! Sadly, the colour I used is from a magazine free gift from a magazine (I don’t even remember which mag it was!!) from about a year ago. Sorry!! Anyway, it’s a beige coloured cream eyeshadow and it’s in a ‘Beauty Box’. I also used the benefit ‘They’re Real’ mascara but only on my top lashes to keep it super simple.
4. Foundation Only!
Going super natural ( ha ha – no pun intended) again by going with just foundation. This is a good idea for someone who wants to go all natural but they’re having a bad skin day. Having a great foundation that matches your skin tone will cover up any imperfections on your already perfect skin (girls, your beautiful how you are!! Girl power!) and keep you looking super simple and natural. I used the Maybelline New York Super Stay 24h foundation in 010 ivory to keep my look lasting all day.
5. Light Contouring
Lightly contouring using either a bronzer or a special contouring powder helps define your face structure and is a great night time look with a dark red lipstick. Using the benefit powder brush (angled) and the boots own ‘Natural Collections’ Sahara Sun bronzer I lightly contoured my cheekbones, jaw line and the top of my forehead. This enhances your bone structure. I then blended with the big poofy powder brush that came with the ‘Natural Collection’ bronzer.
6. All Bronzed Up
This is a fab summer look. I used the same bronzer as before and using the big poofy powder brush it came with a sweeped lightly across my entire face.
7. With a Black Maxi Skirt
Even though this isn’t really a way to wear red lipstick it’s something to wear with it. I love the clash of colours. My maxi skirt is from Primark and my top is from Topshop (although I don’t think you are able to purchase any more because it’s so old!)
8. With Shimmery Nail Polish
Once again this isn’t a way to wear red lipstick but something to wear it with. I am wearing the Topshop Nails nail polish and it is called mermaid. This nail polish is really pretty and I think the matte finish on my lipstick and the gloss finish on my nails contrast perfectly.
9. Without Using A Lip Brush
Firstly, sorry I look super orange in this pic – I got carried away by the bronzer!! Also, this is a bit of a weird one but I thought it’d be a bit of fun. I was super scared of doing this one but I think it went okay. Let me know how you think it went in the comments below!
10. Without Gloss!
This one is uber simple… Just put your lippy on!! I just thought I’d show you guys the different finishes you can achieve.
11. With Gloss!
Once again, showing you guys different finishes… this one glossy!! I used the Marks & Spencer ‘Beauty Emporium’ lip gloss in sweet berry. I smoothed this across all of my lips.
12. With A Bit Of Gloss In The Centre
This is a super simple trick but it helps make your lips look fuller, bigger and beautifuller!! I don’t think that’s a word… Just dab a bit of gloss in the centre of your bottom lip, close your lips without moving them about and that’s it. Sadly you can’t really see the effect in the picture though.
